Chicago awarded in Spain

On 6 May, Madrid's Mayor, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, officially recognized Stage Entertainment Spain for the 200th performance of its musical Chicago.

The mayor presented the award to Stage Entertainment for its exceptional contribution to Madrid's theatre world and for helping the city to become an even more popular tourist destination thanks to its world-class productions. Chicago can be seen in Madrid until 18 July before taking to the road in an ambitious national tour in August. Lead actors Natalia Millán, Marcela Paoli, and Manuel Bandera proudly accepted the award for the show in a ceremony well-attended by the local and regional press. That evening it was also announced that Carlos Lozano, a popular and respected Spanish actor and television host, will play Chicago’s Billy Flinn from August onwards.
Only four days later, on the 10th of May, Chicago received the award for Best Musical at the II Edición de Los Premios Nacionales de Teatro, Posta de Las Ánimas. The award was accepted by Marcela Paoli, who plays Roxie in the production.
