STRONG COMMITMENT
Many observers of European culture, especially of European commercial theater, have long been puzzled by the relatively small number of long-running musical theater productions in Paris. One of the continent’s largest cities, Paris has beautiful theaters, culturally adventurous audiences and an enviable history of artistic achievement; from high-brow theater to a buzzing variety scene. In the past, Paris has tended to limit its commercial theater offerings to large-scale productions of francophone shows with recorded music and performances in arenas and conference centers outside of the city center. These productions have been supported by high volumes in music sales and considerable marketing exposure but have not set down roots in the shape of long runs in city theaters.
In 2005, Stage Entertainment entered the market with a strong commitment to produce high-quality theater in play houses in the city center, initially in the famous Théâtre Mogador. Home for several years to the Orchestre de Paris, the Mogador is the perfect size and shape for musicals with full casts and live orchestras, and 2007 will see the first Stage Entertainment production at this historic site. Stage Entertainment France is actively exploring other venues and cities, as well as, forging links with the French ticketing industry. The company looks forward to making an exciting and rewarding contribution to the French live entertainment industry.
