Russia

The formation of new nation states and new alliances following the breakdown of the Soviet Union brought with it huge changes and huge opportunities for businesses from Russia and elsewhere. The first decade saw great uncertainty along with unparalleled growth in some sectors, and it was only towards the turn of the century that this growth began to seed a stable environment for the reemergence of a prosperous middle class in the larger cities. During this time there were a few entrepreneurs who saw that the world of musical theater had much to offer Russia.

Stage Entertainment recognized the Russian people’s love of song, dance and, of course, their legendary storytelling. The company saw an un-tapped market, primed and waiting for long-running, week-in-week-out shows with live orchestras and highly-trained actors performing in fabulous venues. Having been involved at that time as producer in some of the more successful shows, often produced in challenging circumstances, for instance NordOst and Twelve Chairs, we developed an insider’s view of the complex Russian entertainment industry. This experience enables us to be well-positioned to overcome the challenges
associated with producing at Stage Entertainment’s high standards. This includes the forging of strong links with drama schools throughout the country, finding facilities where performers can hone their musical theater skills, and of course developing strong and creative commercial management teams.
